Dr Edward Duca (from the Department of Mathematics and Science Education, Faculty of Education) and Dr Anthony Galea (from the Department of Geosciences, Faculty of Science) organised an international 4-day workshop on science communication, as part of the SEA-EU alliance. This was held at the University of Malta Valletta Campus, followed by two days at the Esplora Interactive Science Centre at Villa Bighi.
The selected participants represented the University of Cádiz (Spain), University of Western Brittany in Brest (France), University of Kiel (Germany), University of Gdańsk (Poland), University of Split (Croatia), University of Malta and Esplora. The workshop engaged participants in theory and practice of science communication through seminars and interactive sessions. The event fostered international collaboration between partner Universities of the SEA-EU alliance while developing the participants’ science communication capacities (including transferable skills for career development) to engage and involve the wider citizens in research.
The intensive workshop included a number of lectures and activities by various speakers, such as Danielle Martine Farrugia (from MG摆脱网站’s Marketing, Communications & Alumni Office) and Malta’s renowned playwright and theatre professional, Malcolm Galea.
The workshop culminated at the Esplora Interactive Science Centre, where participants prepared sea-related scripts and delivered science shows.
The 4-day workshop formed part of the Erasmus+ project, the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU).
